It is undeniably clear that I haven’t blogged in a while and I must say that I have really missed this. I’m baaa-aack (creepy voice style) and I’ve worked my schedule around so I can always have time for my favorite creative outlet. (A whoop whoop will be fine, thanks! And maybe a pat on the back, too.)
I was yearning to blog for so long already and wanted to come back. When I took a hiatus for school, work and life in general, I also used that to find a time to sit down and reevaluate. I decided right then and there that I wanted to come back in a BIG way and had my blog revamped! Do you see? Do you like?
The Red Trend
To go even bigger, I did something that I’ve been wanting to do but haven’t done yet. Until now. I had another person join me in front of the camera for my blog. I had my best friend, Gershwin, participate in my comeback and go bold with me with a pop of lush red color on our lips. Hers, the more orange-toned red and mine, the more classic blue-toned red.
For A/W 2017, red was seen all over fashion week and on the runway with the likes of Fendi, Givenchy and Max Mara, and was reported as the colour trend of this season. And so it prompted the colour choice of this blog post.
When the trend was announced, I was absolutely excited! Red is one of my favorite colours to wear because I find that it is one of the flattering hues on me. The fiery shade being the it colour this season is just the lovely icing on top.
How we did it
Gershwin used a bright red knit sweater as the base of the outfit and styled it with double denim pieces; the oversized jacket and the ripped mom jeans. I tonged her hair into effortless waves and she finished it off with gorgeous gold statement earrings, her favorite high-top converse and see-through pink glasses.
I took a different route and wore the colour with accessories rather than with the main clothing piece. I have on loose black pants tucked into my favorite combat boots and hooked on red suspenders, leaving them to fall on the sides. I balanced off the edgy bottom of my outfit with a soft frilly off the shoulder top and pom pom earrings. And finally, I topped it all off with one of my many favourite hats, a black beret.
Do you like wearing red? What do you think of our interpretation of the colour trend?
